Up Helly Aa!

Vikings march through the streets of Lerwick on 12/31/06, in the Shetland Islands, Scotland.




The festival of fire is known known as 'Up Helly Aa'. The spectacular event takes place annually on the last Tuesday of January.




The festival ends with the hauling of a Viking longboat through the streets where paraders throw torches into the galley.
